England won’t pull out of the 2010 Commonwealth Games

As we all know that 2010 Commonwealth Games is running into two kinds of problems: 1. Terror threats and, 2. Inappropriate arrangements. Out of these, terrorist attacks are greater threat for the security of the athletes and players participating in the games. This has led countries to reconsider whether to participate in games or not, since this region has high potential of terrorists attacks.

England has categorically denied any such rumours that they are not participating. England general team manager Ann Hogbin dismissed the reports, saying the authorities have not advised them against travelling to India. "That is definitely not the case. Our current and strong intention is to field a team for the games in Delhi next year," Hogbin told Associated Press.

Britain's Foreign Office also told the AP that it has "not advised any of the British teams not to participate in the Commonwealth Games".

"We are aware that the Commonwealth Games Federation had some concerns about preparations for the games. We continue to work closely with the Indian authorities who are doing everything they can to ensure a safe and secure games," the statement added.

Let us hope other countries follow the same trust on India and Indian authorities. It is Indian authorities’ responsibility now to live upto the expectations both with security as well as the infrastructural arrangements.
