The champions Barcelona had their upset very early in 2010 itself. Sevilla beat the reigning champions Barcelona by 2 Goals to 1, in their last 16 tie on Tuesday. Nuo Camp will be a good memory for Diego Capel and Alvaro Negredo of Sevilla, where they scored for the first time in 2010 leading the team to victory.

Barcelona appeared to be a weakened team against Sevilla. Gabriel Milito, the Argentine defender made his way back into the team in the game. He had been out of action for more than a season and half due to a knee injury.

Barcelona dominated the first half of the game play. Messi had some shots on the post. The second half was more even, and finally turned out to be in the favor of Sevilla. It was Sevilla who scored first. Capel, receiving pass from Diego Perotti, made no mistake and scored the goal. Ibrahimovic broke through the offside, took the pass from Rafael Marquez and pushed the ball into the post rouding the keeper to equalize. But the scores were leveled only for 2 minutes. Dmytro Chygrynskiy made a foul by pulling back Diego Capel, as he was dribbling in the penalty area, which conceded the penalty in favor of Sevilla. Negredo made no mistake in housing the penalty kick at his desired location inside the post.

Barca fans might have felt relived when Daniel Alves struck the post once again in the closing stage of the match, but unfortunately, Referee ruled it out for Offside. The match thereby turned in the side of Sevilla. Barca president, Joan Laporta congratulated Sevilla on their win, in a press conference.
